Honda working up factory V-Twin chopper

Honda may be a bit behind the latest two-wheeled trends with its upcoming factory chopper motorcycle. The raked-out style had its heyday a couple of years ago with more functional styles making a big comeback as of late, but there is still a market for long, low bikes with fat rear rubber. Just ask Harley and Victory. Interestingly, Honda's production Fury chopper reportedly uses a rather small 1300cc fuel injected V-Twin engine, which we would assume is a descendant of the smaller-displacement VTX line. Either it's air-cooled or Honda's engineers have done an admirable job of hiding the radiator and associated plumbing. We've also been told to expect a shaft drive, hidden rear shock, 200mm rear tire and the bare minimum number of badges. Add in Honda's stellar reliability and this looks like a winner... five years ago. Price? Rumored to be around $13,000, which would make this a major bargain compared to other factory choppers. Maybe there's something to this new bike after all.

Yamaha YZF R15 launched - Images, Specs

Had to do some travelling lately.. 12th June that was when the much awaited, much wanted and much talked bike, the Yamaha Yzf R15 was launched. During my travel, i saw a bike, a bike that was new, that was rare and demanded an expression to express the enthusiast in yourself, when it came a little closer with quite a speed, i was like "wow!! an R1", and then when it passed by i was like "hey, shit.. that was the YZF-R15" . Yes.. the name sound a bit long and mathematically physics and for some it may sound like a formulae.

The bike made me become jealous with the guy who was riding it, quite low it was though. When i met the bike eye to eye, it made me want to have it. The styling is similar to the R1, heck so what, R1 is Yamahas product. But we should be happy because we get the design of a bike that costs more, but.. for R1 users.. they might get a little angry, because their design had been stolen for smaller bikes. That wont hurt them comparing the engines, speed and performance of the R1 to the R15. Rumor: Volkswagen's First Bike

German giant gets in the saddle as it plans first-ever motorcycle. Car giant Volkswagen is getting on its bike to produce this: its first-ever motorcycle. It’s not only the bike market VW is looking to muscle in on: it sees potential in three wheels, too

The company is set to team up with Austrian motorbike manufacturer KTM to develop the two-wheeler. And our picture shows how the new machine is likely to look.

KTM’s first attempt at a road car, the track-biased X-Bow, was developed with help from VW’s engineers, and even makes use of the 2.0-litre turbo from the Audi TT. So tapping into KTM’s motorcycle know-how to build this bike is an ideal way to repay the favour!

The two-wheeler would pitch VW head-to-head with fellow German giant BMW, which is already established in the motorcycle industry.

But it’s not only the bike market that VW is looking to muscle in on: it sees potential in three wheels, too. Cast your mind back to the 2006 Los Angeles Motor Show, and you might recall the GX-3 concept. It now looks as though production of the firm’s wacky motorbike/car hybrid could be back on the agenda.

The vehicle stunned showgoers with a combination of space-age styling and top performance credentials, although bosses deemed the legal hurdles of selling the ‘trike’ as a motorcycle – and the damage that it could do to VW’s credibility as a car maker – too significant to give it the green light. However, they have now said that if the firm was to produce motorcycles as well as cars in the future, the GX-3 could justifiably make it to production.

And the three-wheeler could be just the vehicle driving enthusiasts of the future are looking for. As it has a lightweight chassis, a frugal 125bhp 1.6-litre engine would provide searing performance – and all this with the ground-hugging stance of a roadster and the manoeuvrability of a motorbike.

5 Ducati Bikes In India By May 7

Expect.. the superbike segment in India to boom!! starting next week when the Italy based superbike maker Ducati enters the Indian market by May 7, when Ducati's Global Chief Executive, Gabriel Deltorchio will arrive to officially launch the 5 bikes in Delhi.

From the land of the Ferrari's, the Lamborghini's, and several world renowed manufacturers from Italy is known for its quality, design and performance, in which one of them is Ducati. The Ducati bikes will be imported as completely built units, with a 60% import duty which will make the bikes cost more than 10 Lakhs, which is a huge sum of money.

Ducati has a 50:50 joint venture with Kinetic Motors to manufacture auto components. Kawasaki sells their bikes through Bajaj while Yamaha sells from their own source, and so will Honda. But Ducati will need a hand in selling their bikes, and the main partner might be TVS Motors.

Though the sales chart figures might not be that high, it is important for Ducati to enter because many manufacturers are planning to launch their superbikes in India which includes Suzuki's Hayabusa, Honda CBR1000 RR and Yamaha R1. These manufacturers are expecting a growth in this segment in India, and if this happens we will be seeing these bikes like we see a Merc or a BMW.

Moto Morini Coming To India

Global sports bikes companies are planning to establish their companies in India, KTM Dukes, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, and now the Italian sports bike manufacturer Moto Morini, plans to start its company which sells high-performance, fully faired sports bikes. Its plans are revealed and plans to enter the market, the beginning of the new decade.

India is experiencing some serious potential in the sales of these superbikes. Some of the possible bikes that can come to India are:
1. Moto Morini Corsaro 1200 Veloce
2. Moto Morini Corsaro Avio

Data from Moto Morini site:

Corsaro 1200 Veloce. We all have a wild side.

Corsaro 1200 Veloce is a special bike and its name, Veloce, Italian for high-speed, reveals its intrinsic personality.

Naked and aggressive, Corsaro 1200 Veloce is a motorcycle with top-flight components and racing graphics. intended for bikers, who love Italian motorcycling tradition. The Corsaro 1200 Veloce is a “standard produced special bike”, a motorcycle born to deliver total fun and absolute performance worthy of a true racing machine.

The Bialbero CorsaCorta twin cylinder

The technological core of the Corsaro 1200 Veloce is the Bialbero CorsaCorta 1187 cc twin cylinder engine, which develops 140 hp at 8500 rpm. The engine’s layout is compact, strongly characterised by the 87° V layout of the cylinders.

Chassis

Moto Morini has equipped the Corsaro 1200 Veloce with high-level components to upgrade the performance of the twin cylinder and to provide the pleasure of a sporty ride. Essence of the chassis is the trellis frame in high-strength tubular steel by Verlicchi. The structure is extremely solid and combines all the stiffness required to harness the power of the engine

The function of the frame is aided by top-notch suspensions which are even more sophisticated in this sport version. At front is a powerful Marzocchi Magnum with 50 mm diameter legs with precise customisation of the setting in compression and rebound thanks to a double adjustment: the adjuster on the plug for the hydraulic damping of the rebound is complemented by an adjuster for the hydraulic damping of the compression placed at the foot of the fork. The positioning of the scraper on the bushes improves the hold of the cartridge, the hard anodized internal rod in ergal makes sliding more efficient and assures a greater resistance to wear. The longer counterspring intensifies the thrill when pullin out of a curve at high speed and guarantees better stability at the front. On the whole, the visual solidity is echoed in a solid and even ride, with the bike ready to conform to the slightest unevenness on the road and to bear the thrust of deceleration in the most race-inspired breakaways.

The rear is characterised by an asymmetrical swing arm that conceals an Ohlins single shock absorber with separate tank multi-adjustable in length, pre-load, extension and rebound.

While braking, the Corsaro 1200 Veloce never gives reason to disappoint: the Gold Series Brembo systems deliver powerful yet progressive deceleration, granting the rider the sensitivity needed for optimum handling of this difficult aspect of the riding experience. At front are a pair of 320 mm discs with radial master-cylinder and four-piston callipers, a solution stemming from a precise technical input, that of lending safety thanks to a excellent modulability and awesome power.

The exhaust system has two slender and lightweight Termignoni silencers in a pure racing style that produce a powerful hum while complying to Euro 3 emission standards.

The second control unit with racing mapping delivered with the bike and that promises a definite upgrade in performance. This sophisticated electronic component can be utilized only for track use.

The support of the rider footpegs is in ergal machined from the solid and they have been set more towards the rear to offer better control at the front, thus a racier feel.

The Corsaro 1200 Veloce flaunts its gritty style aesthetically, too, which comes through in its “mean” graphics. It is available in three versions: black technical base and monochromatic upperstructures in red, white, or all black for an even more aggressive impact.

Bajaj Discover 150 at the Auto Expo

Bajaj is taking no chances of loosing its position in the market. The Bajaj Discover got an upgrade in looks as well as the engine, which will be the same as the Pulsar 150cc engine. The new Discover will exist along the Pulsar 150cc, just like what HH did by putting the CBZ and the HUNK in the same category.

The Discover gets the P150's engine which will produce 14.1 PS @ 8500 RPM and torque of 12.3Nm @ 6500 RPM. Unlike the Discover 135, the engine and wheels are not painted black, but in silver. The black can be used later, as an excuse of an upgrade, or use it as a sports version of the Discover 150.

The Discover gets an all new style. A new aggressive healight with the indicators in an unusual place just blow the corners of the headlight. The side gets a stylish black plastic which goes well with the theme of the bike. At the rear LED lights are used and gets a sporty mudguard, propably an inspiration of the HH Hunk. The aim was to build a bike which people required a less sporty and agressive look, but a modern look. But the Pulsar is for bikers who require the sportiness and style to show off. The Discover 150 proved to be a very good looking bike.

The Discover 150 gets many features compared to the 135cc. Its got a digital speedometer, which is getting quite common these days and self start and a handlebar which many wont like. They have used the lights at the rear like the ones on the XCD 125 and the indicators like the ones in the TVS Flame . Thats it for now.. lets wait for more details, till then Subscribe for Autocrust Email.

Yamaha YZF R15 for India

Yamaha Motor India is seriously planning to create a serious brand image and re-establish its position in India, and are planning some serious bikes this year for some serious riders. What you see here is the Yamaha YZF-R15 which will make it to India somewhere around June or July.

Yamaha is showcasing its potential for India with some real performance Yamaha bikes at affordable rates like below Rs 95000. The YZF R15 has a 150cc Fuel Injected liquid cooled engine that will be producing an almost impossible 20bhp and according to one of the blogs in Thailand, it produces 22bhp, which will make it like the most powerful bike under 200cc range and has a 6-speed Transmission but the bhp is not completely confirmed.
The YZF-R15 is similar to the R1 in looks and is aimed at serious bikers who require performance and style. This Yamaha has fairings like a sports bike and sensibly it is one and doesn't look attached like the P220. It has twin head lights like the R1 beautifully designed body. There were many people around this bike in the Auto show and if it performs well, it will lure away buyer from the p200 or even the P220 and Karizma to the Yamaha YZF R15.

New Honda Aviator unveiled

Honda has unveiled its latest gearless scooter in the Auto Expo 2008 held in Delhi after the huge success of the Honda Activa. This bike is to make its official launch in the market by the month of March. This might be taken as another step to keep the brand fresh in the market.

The Honda Aviator will join the other gearless bikes - Dio and Activa soon. The Aviator has the same engine as the Activa, where the change is only the looks, and the improvement of materials used in the bike. Its like an Activa with better style and now with 5 colours. It is said to have a bigger storage space under the seat and is priced at Rs 39675.
The Honda Aviator will have a few extra stuff like alloy wheels and disc brakes as options and bigger wheels. Honda believed that they could sell one lakh of the Aviator. If it has what it takes to give people, then i say its a flop! because in the pictures the Aviator does not look that awesome.

Its a Honda they are meant to have awesome bikes.. what happen to them, they are loosing a little grip in the segment. They should have made a bike that is damn competitive to the Bajaj Blade DTSi. If you look at it in a decent way its a good one, but when you look at it in a way of showing off, this is not the choice.

Hero Honda Hunk is here

Hero Honda launched another one of its crazy named bikes and this time its a - HUNK without a notice, one fine day it came in the papers. If you refer the dictionary, a HUNK is a man who has a body of a rock and it is completely man. Like Maruti refers to its car SX4 as a man machine. If this bike was compared to the CBZ, its better and more stylish. The CBZ Extreme was a bunch of extreme garbage and is not uniform.

TVS and Bajaj are taking away the HH sales, to get them back they have made an incredible styled bike. First look at this bike would not seem like a hero Honda, no sticker, no graphics and all those fancy thing. Its just perfect. They have cracked the code for design, increased the engine thingy and threw their tattoo job, all the problem why the HUNK name, its like "I am a Hunk and i drive a HUNK" ain't that cool?? If the other guy is a bit def or a joker.. he would say enna?? JUNKa, i know its perfect for u only.
Its armoured heavy, it even looks heavier than the Karizma, the engine is not seen that much and is packed up really nice, the sports bike look goes in completely well. The lights remind me of the HH Ambition, in fact the whole bike does seem like an Ambition successor, any of you guys reading this finds out the picture can compare them, the cuts and lines and the shapes too.

From the engine aspect the HUNK is similar to that of the Xtreme's. The engine displacement is 149.2cc and produces 14.2 bhp @ 8500rpm with a max torque of 12.8Nm @ 6500rpm. This one also comes with first in HH gas charged and adjustable rear shocks. Seriously, the bike is definitely like an Ambition with Apache RTR160's look. The new Fuel tank is accompanied by the big plastic extensions with the HUNK signed on it. The turn indicators are well placed and have no chances of bouncing when you hit a pothole. The extension of plastic mudguard below the lights are signs of sportiness and the black and dark color combo which is found in almost all the bikes are signs of sportiness as well as pictures of beast.
The Bikes engine and Fuel Economy is said to be a tad better than the X-treme, and the features are down to earth with no LED, digi-speedo and Clip handlebars. The Hunk has been priced at Rs. 55,000 (ex showroom New Delhi) for the kick start model and Rs. 57,000 (ex showroom New Delhi) for the self start model. Hope to see the latest pictures of this bike.

Now here is one of the most saddest color a manufacturer can make

Bajaj XCD 125

One of the most successful bike manufacturers to create hype in peoples head was Bajaj and has yet made another one crouching over the country and is spoken in almost all the automobile freaks. The Bajaj XCD 125 is pronounced "exceed" is all set to bring out some sales, or should i say boost up the sales, as i have already seen a lot of XCD's going down the road.

Bajaj had tried everything, from the new engines to stylish styling to keep the people looking at 100cc segment drooling to get to the 125cc segment. The sales are going well already and lets wait a little bit to see how its keeps up. They have also tried to keep the cost as low as possible. The main aim was to create a bike that was affordable that has a 150cc features and styling with a mileage of 100cc bike and the performance of the 125cc.

The futuristic look is better than the discover, and i can say that as i didn't like the look of the discover personally. The head is positioned low and has a lion hunting profile and the lamp is and going down like the P200's caps and fuel tank, all in all its a baby pulsar look and a little bit of the platina here and there. The most impressive part is the back which is like one of the bigger Honda sports bikes. The graphics are not dirty and they have kept it brilliantly. The black alloys and engines are the latest trends of sports bikes and this one has a matching silencer

Bajaj XCD seems like a bunch of Bajaj Bikes thrown in and the look is not fresh but its still good compared to the discover. The LED tail lamps is the first in class and i bet after seeing this bike all the 125cc bikes will come with LED's, the ones in XCD is impressive and adds extra styling to the bikes but has advantage also like power consumption is less and longer life than normal bulbs.

Self start and Digi-speedo is becoming popular and that can be seen in the Pulsar and Apache RTR160 and now even the XCD 125 has them, and this might be a silly reason to build up sales. The bike has a feature called folding number plate, what it does is when the bike falls on a bump, the number plate moves up front and comes back after out of the bump. But the one that caused a bit of problem to the XCD was the TVS Flame and everybody needs a topic and they are eagerly waiting - "XCD versus Flame" that's what they want. What the Flame has is an all new Style that the XCD lacks, but the headlight in the Flame was a bit disappointing.

Bajaj has provided the XCD with the new DTS-SI (Digital Twin Spark Plug - Swirl Induction) engine and produces 9.53PS and torque of 10.85Nm. Bajaj has the XCD delivering 109Kmpl under test conditions that makes it the country's most fuel efficient bike.

The XCD is Expected to be priced as low as 41000-42000(Ex-showroom) which throws itself into the 100cc category. So they give a chance to look at the Splendor again and HH should do something about it.

TVS Apache RTR 160

The TVS Apache RTR 160, a bike that gives tough competition. This Apache range is just starting to expand, when the started off with the Apache 150, they have went well and became the hit also and also topped as the bike of the year 2006, a title of honour. This bike has given serious fight against the Pulsar. And now Pulsar has changed its look, well so did the Apache with bigger engine and better styling.

Engine, Power and Features

The engine displacement has been increased from 150cc to 159.7, so rounded as 160cc, with some stoke configuration to love the revving. The new engine produces 15.2bhp at 8500Rpm and torque of 13.1 NM at 6000Rpm. However the term "RTR" stands for Racing Throttle Response. The bike has increased by two Kgs, but that's no problem compared to the P150, which is 6Kgs more. The Apache can be taken to a top speed of 115Kph, and reaches 60Kph in 4.8 seconds and 100 at 17.7 seconds.

The gearbox is the same as found in the 150Apache, no change, no problem, as the old one too was a gem as they gave effortless shifting. The clutch is also a well hand around. The Apache RTR160 got new features, which includes the latest technology, like the Digi Speedo.
New Features:

The Brake Pedals are made up of alloys. The new racing stickers from the head to the but looks really good on it, but i like it most with the yellow. New LED tail lamps. Jealous of the Pulsar, the Apache also got the LCD digi speedo and the X-tremes split grab tail. Some more modifications have been made in lights, handle bars and pedals. What you will find in console is a clock mysteriously, Fuel Gauge.. ooo.. thats new!!, tachometer and odometer. They have tried to maximize the styling without changing its real identity and made a new design for the side mirrors. How much ever you forget to get the bike to the workshop, the bikes cares for itself with the reminders that alert you..and oh ya.. forgot.. you gotta take it to the shop. Improvement in the riders position with clip on handlebars and low bike profile and has also improved braking. And the engine fairing also is another feature of sporting
Performance and Handling

The RTR160 is like an upgrade to the ride, the next level for accelerating. The bike just loves to be raced. The riding comfort too has increased with the well balanced clutch and soft gear shifts along with the Apache's Poly Shocks that takes up potholes well and enhance the sporty feel. The RTR160 is really comfortable to ride and its bleddy damn fast!! And braking is another feature where it should be appreciated, they have used a Rotor Petal Disc and promised a confirm stop, ya thats for sure.. confirmed stop!!

If you like the old one, this one will surely impress you. If you ask me to choose between the P150 and the Apache RTR160, I would definately say the Apache RTR160, but when it comes to P180 and P200, its a different story.
Verdict:

The Apache is definitely a great bike and the revving will surely entertain you. The Apache and the Pulsar is priced almost equally and this is a big choice, go with your heart, not the brain. A definite Rocker, cheers to Apache RTR160.

Comment of what you feel about the bike!!
