The New Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen getting serious with Indian plans and is ready to put on the all new Volkswagen Tiguan in the list. The Tiguan is known as "baby Touareg" before the name Tiguan was put on. For those who wanted an SUV from VW and wanted a little taste of the Touareg, better start biting your nails, because the all new Volkswagen Tiguan is set to hit the Indian shores in mid 2008 and ready to strike the Honda CRV, Nissan's X-trail, Audi Q5 and Maruti Suzuki's Grand Vitara.

The Volkswagen Tiguan was announced at the 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show which was held in November of 2006. The name "Tiguan" was said to be chosen by the readers of AutoBild magazine which results in more talking of this car and creation of rumors which will in turn create suspense for the people. A concept as it was started, but was a combo of three popular cars, the Golf, Passat and the Rabbit and this was a serious task, and now after the hard work produced was this beauty. The Tiguan is 4.4 m long and 1.6m wide. The Tiguan will be equipped with the famous 2.0L TDi Diesel engine with Common Rail Tec. that produces a 138Bhp and also a Petrol that is a 1.4-litre 148bhp PS TSI petrol, and the 1.4L name might sound weird.
The chassis in the front is McPherson system with aluminum frame and a four-link rear axle at the rear. The Tiguan style is a result of modern, young, chunky and joyful lifestyle, a complete little brother of the Touareg. The looks are more appealing for the Tiguan and more stylish. The VW Tiguan was designed under Murat Gunak and the specs are: Length: 174.3 inches ; Width: 71.2 inches; Height: 66.3 inches and a boot of 470 Litres. The VW Tiguan is expected to come in India by the end of 2008 and give the CRV some competition.
