Mitsubishi i MiEV Electric car in India by 2010

In the Budget 2008, the Government of India has declared 0% excise for electric vehicles, which gives Mitsubishi motors India an opportunity to give its electric car a boost. Mitsubishi Motors India is planning to launch the i-MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) which is in the form of the Mitsubishi "i" car.
The i-MiEV which has been launched in Japan and Hong Kong, will be coming to India in about 2 years. This is a part of the plan in which the joint partners HM and Mitsubishi will launch a new model every six months. to expand its line-up and presence in the market This mini-looking car also won the Best Tech Car Award in Japan.

The I-MiEV can be recharged and can travel for a great 180kms, which an average traveling guy can use it for like 2 and a half days. The price is not confirmed yet, but they said that it was a new technology so it might get expensive, but since its coming in 2010, the car might be lower in cost.
The looks of the car is definitely amazing, It looks like the head of a hatch and the tail of an MUV. The interiors are too very pleasing and modern. The wheels are in the corners, thus increasing the interiors space. The length is really big and even the boot is big. It has a motor and an inverter as well as an on-board charger at the rear. It is equipped with 330V Lithium-ion battery system. The i-MiEV is powered by a compact 63bhp motor that develops torque of 180Nm. The i MiEV is said to have a top speed of 130kmph.

The car is said to be sold in around US$ 17000, which is about 7Lakhs in India, its like 0% excise, means we can expect 8Lakhs for this car. If we see it in a long time vision, 8L for a car like this isn't bad, and it does help in the future of the country. So lets wait until 2010., but the price is just a prediction.

Here is a video of the Car
