The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is the replacement for the long-lasting Maruti Esteem, which had earlier offered the people an upgrade from the famous hatch in those times - the Maruti 800, and from the Traditional Ambassador to the modern Esteem. After about 14 years, the Esteem is being replaced by the Dzire.
OK, so what is a Swift Dzire? Well, basically it is a normal hatch Swift with a boot, a humongous boot. So, it will be offering 2 new engines, one Diesel and one Petrol, while the 1.3L Multijet Diesel will be from the Fiat stable and the 1.3L petrol which will begin from 4.5L and 6L for the top end diesel, while the engine power and stuff is the same.
The rear is surprisingly looks good, and i am glad they didn't make the rear flat, otherwise it would have looked horrible. The rear looks like a heavy BUICK, maybe because of that chrome plate. Turn your eye angle to the sides and be surprised, the humongous big boot goes well with the lines and shape of the body. Turn front and you will see the Swift, but my suggestion will be that if the hood and the front was longer and had an aggressive looking face, then this car will sell like a pan cake.
The Dzire seems to have more space inside than the Swift and will get the new grille and clear tail lamps. The Dzire gets an adjustable steering wheel with audio controls on the steering wheel and rear arm-rest. Maybe airbags and ABS will be kept as optional. All these stuff, comes to ask you why there is a difference of almost 2L between the SX4 and the Dzire.

Hi ! You are right. The car is feature loaded. These features one doesn't find in other cars like logan, in the same segment. I am not sure where you got the price info from, but from what I have been hearing the price is going to be between 6-7 lacs.
no i dont think the price will be 6-7L, as it will affect the sales as the SX4 is also in the same range. Maybe 6-7L for the top end Diesel version, not the petrol.
But the prices are not yet confirmed, it was just a suggestion according to their competition - Logan, Indigo, Ikon flair.
The pricing is not confirmed yet, but the general buzz these days is that the price is going to be between 6-7 lacs. My view is that Maruti is pricing it close to Honda deliberately. SX4 is as it is a hit. I don't think that its sales will get too affected. In fact i just came across the official website of the car - www.marutidzire.com . Check it out...
What i mean is that the Dzire's sales will get affected and not the SX4's. The SX4 gives a different story at that price. And by the space it will provide at a price range of 6-7L, i dont think the Dzire will live long. Cant say that exactly as the Swift is a wonderful car and the Dzire too will be one.. so there will be crazy fans for it.
While the Swift is a cool looking car. The Dzire is a far cry from anything remotely cool. The name itself is a bit much.
I wonder why they need to come up with sedan versions. Come out with 2 door hatchbacks instead like the much anticipated Scirocco.

Extending hatch backs to sedan versions is an international trend. Maruti has done quite a decent job of extending swift to dzire. I am sure your views will change once you see the car at http://www.marutidzire.com
I just read in the Ahmedabad Times of India that price of Dzire starts from 5.2 lakes for petrol version and for diesel version it starts from 5.6 lakes. Dzire is reall good looking car and it will surely hit the market and will give a tough fight to Logan and Indigo like anything.

i agree ,it is quite ugly..only if they could make a better front that would have made more sense.
No imagination! Same old lazy Indian trend of exaggerating accomplishments with no/less creative/dedicated man hours and dragging the success of previous good works till the later gets feeble due to over exploitation.
I am not even going to buy SWIFT now, because I know there is a clone running around with a tail.
Not to mention, same was the case with TATA INDICA, which was a desirable car until INDIGO came out which was nothing more than a dicky attached to INDICA.
The Swift Dzire is a total disappointment. I was waiting for the launch of the Swift sedan version. But now I feel it would have been much better if they had not come out with one. The Dzire is going to affect the market of the hatchback version too.
The Dzire is definitely a better replacement for Esteem. It also creates the segment between Swift and SX4. A long tailed Swift though. It would be a tough choice to make between Dzire Zxi and the SX4 because the lower end variant in SX4 does not have ABS/airbags, etc.
It is boring to see the attitude of the car maker not making enough attempt to come with a polished design. Just add a boot to a hatch model with a funny name is all they do.
I am sure this car will give a tough competion to logan and Aveo....
It is not just adding a boot to a hatch. You must see how well it synchronises. Rear design is fantastic and the Dzire will pierce through the competition.
I made-up my mind to go for Dzire
I assure you that it is not a disappointment to most people. People have loved it.Let me tell you there is already a waiting period for it's delivery.
By launching this new sedan, i feel the company is doing nothing more than PRODUCT CANNIBALISATION,by eating up its own market for Esteem and SX4....

Dzire has really proved a elite sedan for Maruti as prior to it only Esteem is leading the Maruti in this segment but this car got great success.Its a luxury sedan with sober looks and high performance.
