2008 Honda Accord

The Honda's are growing and starting to rule the roads, with the City, Civic, Accord and the CRV, and is planning more aggressive. Modeled and named as the 2008 Honda Accord and feels the best among the class in looks. Honda Accord, the best-selling model in that segment amazing redesign that beauties styling inside and out.

Engines, Power and Transmission

The accord is moving in engine wise, Two engines will be offered which is a 2.4L 4-cylinder and a 3.5L V6. The 2.4L petrol produces 180bhp and the 3.5L with a kick ass 270Bhp, and also can be operated with 3, 4, or 6 cylinders. It will also be equipped with Honda's Variable Cylinder Management Technology, which will help in better fuel economy. Although there are some turbocharged versions of these engines in the international market, but there is possibly no chances of them in India.

The transmission will be a 5-speed manual transmission and will also have a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Exteriors and Safety

The design is beautiful and looks like a pure BMW. The headlights start with an agressive long stretched lights and reminds a bit of the SX4, while the grille is accompanied with a slide finish chrome and the Honda logo, loved by us Indians known as the "quality brand". and a bold hood that has tough lines to show the finish of quality. The side is the part where the 5 series comes in mind, where the hard lines and stretched tail and head lamps, the low stance and the huge wheels are outstanding, looks better than a Merc i can say. The tail lamps are clear and business like and shows a bit of the Yaris sedan.

A whole house of Airbags, finds you in the cabin at the front, side and curtain airbags and have improved the stability and complete control of the car and then the tire pressure monitoring system seat belt pretensioner, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and safety belts, etc.

Interiors and Comfort

The Interiors has been changed to match the luxury lifestyle of today and follwing the Civics pushed in dashboards, beautiful carving but a little messed up buttons thrown in one place. A very useful steering wheel with audio, cruise contol and all those buttons. An armrest with a storage compartment. Well designed with high quality materials, duh.. its a Honda, ofcourse. The rear is spacious and a bit increased from the one which is sold now. And to add that extra comfort, armrest is provided. And for the third passenger, an extra headrest in the center.

The boot is not changed that much. the back seat is foldable which adds that extra space to the cargo area. All in all the interiors are just amazing with incredible space, and truly luxury and comes near the Camry, but the only thing missing is the blue light in the Camrys cockpit, if that was borrowed from the Civic, thats it.. beautiful..

Verdict:

Well, all i can say is that the Camry and Teana better watch out, or maybe even the C-Class. Amazing, sporty and classy exteriors with pure luxury interiors and safety features are good too. Already the Accord is doing well, and if this one is priced properly, its a hit, that is if the performance does not crap up the car, but mileage is said to be good though. This car will be releasing next year, 2008.

I have got to say that even if they build the best Accord ever, I won't own one. Honda refuses to repair a manufacturer's defect in my 2006 Accord Hybrid and even if the car is great off the factory floor, it is likely you'll need service. My experience is that Honda won't take care of problems they find too difficult to correct. I've had three Acuras and now a Honda Accord. Each successive year has been poorer quality and the response from Honda's office in California is terrible. I'm off to Toyota to buy my next car.
